Innovation Center President Wendy Wheeler will represent
the Innovation Center for our exhibit at the Council of Foundations
in Seattle. This gathering will focus on how philanthropy can
play a potentially transformative role within the four topics of Poverty,
Public Health, Environment and Disasters.
Children
Youth and Families at Risk (CYFAR) 2007 Conference
Location: Chicago, IL
Date: May 1-4, 2007
Innovation Center Senior Director of Training and Field Services Elayne Dorsey and a young
person from one of the KLCC session II sites will be conducting a workshop
that discusses our ongoing work with the KLCC initiative and provides
participants with hands-on activities for implementing youth-adult partnerships
and collective leadership in their organizations. We will also
be presenting two poster sessions, one around the resources and youth
development approach of the Innovation Center, the other focusing on
our work in partnering with the organization Roca, Inc. on reengaging
at-risk youth.
Leadership Sustainability and the Triple Bottom Line

Date: May 2-6, 2007
Elayne Dorsey and senior youth training cadre member Zara Snapp will be
presenting a hands-on workshop exploring the benefits of collective
leadership and youth-adult partnerships as strategies for promoting
youth leadership in community building efforts.
National Pathways to Adulthood - Independent Living, Transitional Living
Conference
National Resource Center for Youth Services
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Date: May 9-11, 2007
Zara Snapp will present a workshop that draws from the Innovation
Center's experience with the Kellogg Leadership for Community Change
initiative. Participants will learn about the potential of youth-adult
partnerships for strengthening engagement in community projects that
foster healthy decision making, and create greater leadership, economic,
and civic opportunities for young people. Wendy Wheeler will facilitate
a workshop that explores innovative strategies for using accountability,
shared learning, and the honoring of all voices as strategies for
re-engaging at-risk youth. We will also be presenting an exhibit on the
key tools and resources pioneered by the Innovation Center.
