“Youth as leaders in the social justice movements seemed to go away for a long time. It is good to see youth leadership come back through Innovation Center: youth adult partnerships, youth boards, youth voices in decision making.” Dale Blyth, Associate Dean for Youth Development University of Minnesota Extension Service |

New youth leadership tools to be released in late 2007 In late 2007 and early 2008 we will begin disseminating practical tools and products incorporating the lessons learned from our work with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation's Kellogg Leadership for Community Change (KLCC) Session II initiative. KLCC is the Kellogg Foundation's flagship leadership development program designed to empower youth and adults from marginalized communities to take leadership roles in their communities. One tool that has already emerged from KLCC is "The Collective Leadership Framework: A Workbook for Cultivating and Sustaining Community Change". Designed to help organizations use community-based collective leadership as a tool for making community change, the framework describes four stages of community change and four elements that when woven throughout each stage help to create a strong and sustainable effort. The Collective Leadership Framework is currently available and can be accessed at www.klccleadership.org. To read more about the Innovation Center's role in KLCC, visit our page on leadership development and look under the "projects" link.
